It’s not a secret that a “perfect” job does not exist. But don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom. Just because a perfect job doesn’t exist doesn’t mean that you can’t have a fulfilling, rewarding, and purpose-filled role; it just won’t be perfect all of the time. There will be good days, and there will be bad days.
That’s why it’s essential to reflect upon the things you do love about your career—especially on the days you feel frustrated and defeated. It’s in those moments that you realize that there is a sense of purpose to your work.
Something that has helped me in moments of frustration is to take a moment to think about all of the things I love about my job. I sometimes make a list or take mental notes while sitting in traffic, allowing me to see exactly where my work fits in the big picture.
I was curious, so last month, I asked my readers what they love most about their careers— and their responses were GOLD. Take a look and get inspired!
“What I love most is being able to connect, share, help and educate others. It brings a lot of joy to my heart to see the impact in people’s lives and being able to be part of their experiences, challenges and accomplishments along the way.”
“What I’ve loved most about the work I’ve done in any career is the relationships I’ve formed through the process and what I’ve learned from other people’s stories.”
“Being able to educate other minority students and leading by example that they CAN make it through our education system.”
“I love that I get to help people prepare for their goals and dreams and help them build confidence along the way.”
“I love the variety in my role. I get to work with a diverse range of people, work independently, manage my own projects, get to be creative and innovative, and I get to work with a large group of people with different strengths, and most importantly—help others grow!”
“I help women become their healthiest selves through flexible eating”
“I love that I talk to so many passionate chef and entrepreneurs!”
“I love being able to listen to my customers and find ways to help them improve. I say my motto is getting my clients promoted, and there’s a whole lot of joy in that!”
“I love that in the career I’m in right now, I get to live out two of my grand passions: supporting students on their journey to success as an activist mentor and communicating the value of higher education.”
What do you love most about your career? I’d love to hear!
